Car hire without a credit card

If you're hoping to rent a car but don't have a credit card - don't worry. Here at SIXT we also accept American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, JCB and Discover Debit Cards for your UK rental and deposit, as long as:

• your card is valid at the time of pick-up and issued in the name of the main driver 
• you haven't chosen a luxury vehicle above the F*** class 
• the debit card matches your country of residence

Car hire with a debit card

Debit cards are naturally secure, however there are some drawbacks to renting a car with a debit card - but SIXT still makes it possible. Your debit card must be in the name of the driver, be valid during the rental period, must be presented at the time of pick-up and be from a bank in your country of residence. 

Please note: payment for your rental car with a debit card is only accepted in the UK and selected countries. Please visit the Rental Information page and select your destination country to see all restrictions. 

Van hire without a credit card is possible in the UK. All of our van rentals in the UK can be paid for with a UK debit card. 

If you're looking to hire a car outside of the UK but don't have a credit card, it may be difficult for you. Many countries in Europe require you to pay for your car rental with a credit card, whereas America may be a bit more lenient. Northern Ireland

Payment with the driver's own Mastercard or VISA debit card is possible for online pre-paid rentals. Debit cards may not be used to cover the deposit, unless the Top Cover LDW has been purchased. 

USA 

Debit cards with available funds may be accepted at certain SIXT locations with two forms of government-issued IDs and only if you are able to provide a return airline ticket.
