Whether you can change your payment card depends on the rate you've chosen: with Flexi, you only pay at pick-up – simply bring a different card to the branch. With Prepaid, your driver and payment details cannot be changed any more, as payment has already been taken at the time of booking.
Flexi rate: Use a different card at pick-up
Bring the desired credit or debit card in the main driver's name to the branch
The branch will hold the deposit on this card and charge it for the rental payment
The card must have sufficient available balance or limit for both the rental and the deposit
Prepaid rate: Payment method is locked
At the time of booking, your payment method is charged immediately with the expected rental price (including extras and fees)
Driver and payment details can no longer be changed
Why the card and driver must match
SIXT checks the card against the main driver's driving licence and ID to prevent fraud.

Only the main driver named on the SIXT booking can collect the vehicle. Changing the main driver online is not possible. If someone else needs to drive, simply message us on WhatsApp or Live Chat, or make a new booking under the correct name.

We'll review your booking and update the main driver for you. Just message us with your booking reference and the details of the new main driver.
Note: With Prepaid rates, driver and payment details are locked once the booking is made and can no longer be changed. In this case, you'll need to cancel and re-book (in line with the cancellation terms).
Re-book yourself
For Prepaid rates or short-notice changes, you can cancel your existing booking and create a new one under the correct name – online on the website or in the SIXT app.
Add an additional driver
If someone else would like to drive alongside the main driver, simply add them as an additional driver – online before pick-up or at the branch with their own driving licence.
