What is the SIXT grace period if I arrive late for pick-up?

Directions and arrivals

If you're running late, we'll hold your vehicle free of charge for up to 60 minutes from your booked pick-up time, within the branch's opening hours. If you're going to be even later, just message us on WhatsApp or Live Chat – we'll keep your booked vehicle ready for you.

The 60-minute grace period

From your scheduled pick-up time, we hold your vehicle for up to 1 hour within the branch's opening hours – free of charge and without any action needed from you. This grace period is also noted in your booking confirmation.

Longer delays

Just message us on WhatsApp or Live Chat with your booking reference. We'll check whether your original vehicle can still be held – if not, we'll offer you the closest equivalent vehicle available.

With flight number (airport branches)

With your flight number on file, your booking is automatically guaranteed for up to 24 hours from your original pick-up time – we track your flight in real time. Airport branches also stay open for up to 1 hour past their closing time in case of delays.

No contact = no-show

  • Without a message from you, your booking may be marked as a no-show once the grace period has expired – the booking then lapses

  • With Prepaid, you can still collect the vehicle later, provided you arrive at the branch within the originally booked rental period and during the branch's opening hours. Please let us know on WhatsApp or Live Chat in advance
