What happens if I return my SIXT car late?

Out-of-hours and late returns

If you return the vehicle later than agreed in the rental contract, the extra days will be charged as a rental extension. If you do not inform SIXT about the extension, an additional service fee (Flexi Return Service) will apply.

The easiest solution: extend your rental in the SIXT App or via the website as soon as you know you'll be returning the vehicle late.

Extending avoids extra costs

  • Letting us know in advance is always cheaper than returning late without notice

  • If you inform SIXT beforehand, only a small handling fee applies for adjusting the return date, time or location

Out-of-hours returns

  • You can generally return your vehicle outside of opening hours
