What do I do if I have been involved in an accident and how do I contact SIXT about claims?

I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Any accident must be reported to our Accident/Breakdown Assistance Line within 12 hours of occurrence. Please call +44(0) 344 499 3399 and follow the relevant options.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED AS AN ACCIDENT?

We speak of an accident as a sudden, involuntary and external event in which third party is involved. This includes third party vehicles, property or personal ininjury.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT OR BREAKDOWN?

Please call +44(0) 0344 499 3399 and report the incident to us, as soon as it happens. We do offer Third Party Intervention (TPI) which enables us to repair another vehicle or provide a replacement. Further information can be obtained from claims-uk@sixt.com.

WHAT IF I AM NOT AT FAULT FOR THE ACCIDENT/DAMAGE?

Ensure that you get the other party's contact information so we may pursue them and/or their insurance company on your behalf for damages. Please note that our pursuit of the other party does not absolve you from your contractual obligation as to the terms of the protection product included within your contract.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I RECEIVE TOLLS, SPEEDING TICKETS OR PARKETING TICKETS?

You are responsible for all fines and charges issued as a result of you or any driver using the Vehicle. Fines and charges could include: all parking fines or charges; toll charges; towing charges; clamping costs; traffic fines or charges; speeding fines; and any other charges or fines.

If a fine or charge is sent to us because you haven’t paid a charge or complied with the law, we will take payment for: (a) our administration fee of 40.00 GBP for every transaction handled by Sixt which is notified to you at the time of booking and can be found on our website at www.sixt.co.uk/rental-information/ to cover our costs of dealing with the fine or charge; and (b) the fine or charge itself (if we have to pay it).

DOES SIXT CHARGE FOR THE PROCESSING OF FINES AND PENALTIES?

Sixt charges a lump sum for processing a traffic violation in accordance with the general terms and conditions. You will receive a copy of the relevant authority request together with our letter.

Please note: The fine itself is not included in this lump sum. Pay the fine directly to the authority if it contacted you. No payment is made by Sixt.

I DIDN'T CAUSE THE VIOLATION; BUT A REGISTERED ADDITIONAL DRIVER. DO I NEED TO PAY?

Please inform the authority if the driver name differs from that of the SIXT + subscriber. The lump sum for expenses is automatically charged to the holder of the SIXT + subscription and must be paid to Sixt. It is irrelevant who makes this transfer. A separate letter to the actual causer will not be sent.

I HAVE A CONCERN WITH MY RENTAL VEHICLE, WHO CAN I CONTACT?

There should be a sticker found inside the vehicle which displays the number to call if you experience issues with the vehicle. Alternatively, the same number will be found on the key fob.

MY SIXT+ CAR MUST BE REPAIRED.CAN I GET A REPLACEMENT CAR?

When configuring your SIXT + subscription, you can add the option of a replacement car guarantee in the event of a repair.
In the event of a self-inflicted accident, you will receive a replacement car from Sixt during the repair period. If you have to stay mobile, this service option is definitely worth it, since comprehensive insurance only covers vehicle repairs.
