Payment

What payment methods are available for the SIXT+ car subscription? How is the monthly debit made and what happens if the payment fails? Here you will find all the information about the payment processing of your subscription.

SIXT+ accepts most major credit and debit cards, bills your subscription every 30 days, and sends your invoice by email at the end of each billing period.

Accepted payment methods

The following cards are accepted:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Diners Club
  • Discover
  • JCB
  • CUP

Prepaid cards are not accepted. For premium vehicle groups (FDAR or higher), a credit card is required — a debit card is not sufficient. You can check vehicle groups on the SIXT fleet page. The payment card must be in the name of the main driver.

How billing works

At the start of your subscription, a one-off sign-up fee is charged. After that, your monthly package price is charged every 30 days at the beginning of each billing period. Any extras you add — either when booking online or when you collect the vehicle from the SIXT station (for example, a child seat) — are billed with your next monthly invoice. If an extra is added at collection, the fee is authorised on your payment card until the next billing settlement.

Security deposit

A security deposit is authorised on your credit card when you collect the vehicle. The amount depends on the vehicle group and the SIXT terms and conditions in force at the time. The authorisation is released at the end of your first billing cycle.

How to update your payment method

  1. Open the SIXT App and go to your account settings, or
  2. Call our customer service team to update your details over the phone

Your invoice

You'll receive your invoice by email once a month, at the end of each 30-day subscription period. It covers your prepaid monthly fee and any extras added or cancelled during that period.

Credit check requirement

A SIXT+ car subscription requires a positive credit check. Subscriptions cannot be started if the credit check is unsuccessful.
