To hire a car with Sixt, the driver must have a form of identification such as ID card or passport and a valid driver’s license upon collection of the vehicle. For non-Europeans, the driving licenses can only be accepted if their passports have no visas and there have been in the EU for more than six months. Those who have a passport written in any other language than the Latin alphabet must present an International driver’s license to obtain a vehicle from Sixt. If the license is from a country not part of the International Driver’s License agreement, you will be required to provide a translation for the original.
To drive in Germany, you must be over 18 years. However, at Sixt there are age restrictions that may arise from your age or license. Also, a young driver may be subject to a surcharge if they have not attained the age of 23. You can find out more about the restrictions during booking.
For the payment of a rental vehicle, we accept the major international credit cards with an exception of prepaid credit cards and debit cards. Payment will be made in the name of the driver and the method of payment shall be indicated.
