Traffic Information back to top

Our Liverpool Wapping Dock branch is located close to the River Mersey, the city's historic heart and the Liverpool Echo Arena. It is easily reached by bus or taxi from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and both Liverpool Central and Lime Street Stations.

Although Liverpool is a large and sprawling city it is considered to be one of the easier cities in the UK to drive around, especially if you have added a Sat Nav to your reservation. As in any city, it is best to avoid peak commuting hours.

Strictly regulated street parking is available in all areas but it is more economical to use multi-storey parking. Some are open 24-hours a day, ideal if your city centre hotel does not have its own parking available.

Liverpool has a long history centred on the river and the sea. This combines with popular history and lively social and cultural scenes to make for plenty of visitor attractions whatever your interests. If you are not sure where to start, take a drive around the city looking out for the elegant Georgian architecture in the Canning area of town, home to many wealthy ship owners of the past. Then soak up the atmosphere of the oldest Chinatown in Europe. Albert Dock, Wapping Dock and the Ropewalks all show how the rich maritime history of the city has been revitalised into lively shopping, nightlife and cultural centres. Four of Liverpool's most famous sons are, of course, The Beatles. Everywhere you go in the city you will come across them from their statues at Pier Head to the Beatles Story at Albert Dock.

A Port City with a Long Musical Heritage

Two main things contribute to the uniqueness of Liverpool. The first is its world-famous River Mersey waterfront where all stages of Liverpool's maritime life can be seen from the Three Graces to the Museum of Liverpool. Enjoy watching the ever changing variety of boats and ships that ply the water, from ferries to Tall Ships. Take a drive along both sides of the river, hopping under the Birkenhead or Kingsway Tunnels and seeing how the architecture changes from working docks to the tranquillity of the Crosby Coastal Park. Liverpool's musical heritage is also unique, leading to its title as the World Capital of Pop. Talented performers from this musical city have been responsible for more singles at the top of the pops than any other place in the world.
