The Audi RS6 Avant: a statement estate
The Audi RS6 Avant might be 5 metres long and weigh in at a little over two tonnes, but it moves like nothing else. Sweeping lines, flared wheel-arches and oversized bumpers hint at the monster waiting to be unleashed, but you'll always feel completely in control thanks to the car's quattro four wheel drive. And those without a need for speed can just sit back and enjoy the hushed ride and quality trim.
The first Audi RS6 Avant was released in 2002. With a 4.2-litre V8 under the hood, it was an impressive entry in the super estate market, but its performance was dwarfed by the RS6's second incarnation in 2008, which boasted a mighty 5-litre V10 pumping out a whopping 571 bhp. The new Avant makes do with a mere 552 bhp, courtesy of 4-litre twin turbo V8. However, its steel and aluminium body is also lighter - 2010 kg compared to its predecessor's 2145 kg - and the result is an estate car that can go from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds, speeds that leave your average sports car or luxury saloon in the dust.
With the RS badge come specs that are at least the equal of many other luxury cars. Inside, leather seating, high-res LCD display and flat-bottomed steering wheel all speak to the Avant's premium pedigree. But there is no lack of everyday practicality either, with seating for three in the rear and 565 litres of boot space. All of which makes it a supremely attractive luxury car hire for road trips and family holidays.

Audi: success on the road and the racing circuit
Audi has a complicated history, but the company as we know it today was founded in 1969 as an upmarket subsidiary of Volkswagen. It got off to a flying start with the Audi 100 executive saloon, followed by the smaller Audi 80 in 1972 and the Audi 50 in 1974. In 1980, the company made a huge splash in motorsports with the Audi Quattro, a car which would dominate rallying for years to come. Podium finishes in Super Touring Championships followed in the 1990s, and in the early 2000s the RS6 competed successfully in the Speed World Challenge. The Audi RS6 Avant has some stellar competitors in the fast estate sector - not least the Jaguar XFR and Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate - but its combination of power, refinement and style means it's hard to beat.
Renting the Avant from Sixt Sports and Luxury Cars
The Audi RS6 Avant makes a versatile luxury car rental for a range of settings. You can potter around town enjoying its quiet engine and impressive fuel economy, or open it up on winding country roads to coax a throaty roar from its V8. A clever system of differentials delivers centred, balanced performance even in wet or slippery conditions, so it's great for a jaunt to your favourite Alpine resort too.
