Reserving a Sat Nav from our attractive range of extras means you will not get lost in Bristols busy streets and can locate the correct motorway junctions for exploring further afield. Our rental add-ons also include additional driver cover, unlimited mileage and insurance top-up packages along with child seats for those travelling with young children. As Bristol is a large university city we are always pleased to welcome younger customers under 25.

Traffic Information back to top

Bristol Airport is a major hub for some budget airlines with flights arriving daily from across Europe and the Atlantic. It is located 8 miles outside the city centre with regular Flyer shuttle bus services that bring you into town to collect your car hire in Bristol. Bristol Temple Meads Train Station and the Marlborough Street Coach Station are both centrally located and within easy distance of our city branch. Train and coach routes have links to most major cities across the UK.

The centre of Bristol follows a large one-way city loop which can be confusing at times for both visitors and new residents. Like many large cities, Bristol becomes congested at peak hours during which times a couple of routes into the city operate a pool lane for vehicles with more than one occupant. Please ask for further information on this when you collect your car.

Short-term street parking is the cheapest option, especially in the city centre but places are limited and well-monitored. Avoid a parking fine by using the multi-storey and underground parking that is widely available across the city.

When you hire a car the attractions of Bristol are all within easy reach. The narrow cobbled streets of the Old City are where you will find Bristol's theatre-land and the 17th-century Llandoger Trow public house, frequented by Robert Louis Stephenson. Just South of here is the lively Harbourside area where Brunel's SS Great Britain is docked. A short, pleasant drive along the riverfront brings you to Clifton, the part of the city that makes the most of your car rental in Bristol. Pay a small toll and drive over Brunel's suspension bridge to admire the full splendour of the Avon Gorge 250 feet below you.

Small Festivals and Art in Bristol

Bristol is the unofficial capital of the West Country of England and probably host to more annual festivals than anywhere else in the UK. These include the impressive sight of the International Balloon Fiesta which takes place every August. If you are lucky enough to be in town drive four miles south of the River Avon to the country estate of Ashton Court and watch the colourful mass launch. Bristol is also the birthplace of the internationally famous graffiti artist, Banksy. Take in the works of this secretive and elusive artist with guided or self-guided walking tours.

Sightseeing Destinations back to top

When you have finished enjoying the sights and nightlife of Bristol your rental vehicle means that nearby towns, beautiful countryside and family seaside resorts are all within easy reach. The ancient city of Bath is just a short drive away. Here any visit should centre on the Roman Spa Baths, Bath Abbey and the Georgian architectural splendours of the Royal Crescent and the Assembly Rooms which houses a Fashion Museum. You will find references to one of Englands best loved authors, Jane Austen, throughout the city.

If you want to country hop into Wales you can just take a drive over the Severn Bridge to the pretty town of Chepstow. Children and history lovers will enjoy a tour of the Norman Chepstow Castle, while the town is the gateway to beautiful walking and cycling routes in the Lower Wye Valley. Carry on driving for a few miles and call into the ruins of Tintern Abbey. This Cistercian monastery also dates from the Norman period.
