You could go and look at Brunel's SS Great Britain, which was the first passenger ship ever built with an iron hull, in 1843. Then take a drive to Bristol Old City with its historic buildings and other interesting artefacts.
Bristol driving information
- If you are arriving at Bristol Airport, our branch is just a short shuttle ride away. From there it will take you around half an hour to drive into Bristol city centre on the A38.
- Bristol is one of the more congested cities in the UK so it is best to avoid driving in the city centre if possible during peak times.
- There is no congestion charge in Bristol but from 28th November 2022 a Clean Air Zone will be in operation covering large parts of the city centre. More in-depth information can be found on the Bristol City Council website.
- There are plenty of roads in Bristol where you are able to park for free, however in the city centre you will mostly find pay and display parking. Of course, there are also plenty of multi storey car parks in the city centre.
- If you want to get out of the city, there are plenty of places to visit within a short drive of Bristol. Bath is the nearest city to Bristol and can be reached in around 40 minutes on the A4. Stonehenge is just over 50 miles away and will take you about an hour and a half to drive there on the M4 and A360. If you stay on the M4 you can get to Oxford in around the same amount of time.
