HOW DO I BOOK A ONE WAY CAR RENTAL?

Taking advantage of our one way car hire services couldn't be easier:

  2. Choose the "Change drop-off" option
  3. Select the branch you wish to return the car to
  4. Choose your preferred vehicle category
  5. The one-way fee will be applied to the prices show

One-Way Rules & Restrictions

Unfortunately, due to insurance regulations and costs for returning vehicles, sometimes there are fees or restrictions with one-way car hire. However, at Sixt, we are always upfront with these charges and there are no hidden fees! The one-way fee within the same country or cross borders always depends. Simply enter your desired pick-up and drop-off locations in the booking engine at the top of the page and you will be notified if the one-way car hire is not possible. The one-way rental fee (if any) will be added to the total amount payable at the end of the process. For unannounced one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee, so be sure to plan your trip accordingly to avoid any extra costs.

Commercial vehicles, Passenger vehicles in P***, L***, X*** categories, MPV (8+ seats) and minibuses are not allowed to go overseas or abroad. The vehicle selection can restrict travel to certain countries. Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mini are only allowed to enter Zone 1 countries (except of above mentioned car groups). Entry into any country in zone 3 is not permitted.
 

  • Zone 1: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and Vatican City.
  • Zone 2: Croatia, Czech Republic*, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland*, Slovakia and Slovenia.
  • Zone 3: All countries which are not in zone 1 or 2.

In case of offence against cross border and territorial restrictions, all insurances lose their validity.

One-way car hire restrictions and fees always depend on where you plan on picking up and dropping off your vehicle, so be sure to calculate all prices before you've made your decision. In the USA there are one-way restrictions when travelling across certain state lines yet on request there may be exceptions, which can be checked by contacting our helpful customer services. For countries outside of Europe and Northern America, one-way rental has to be requested and is subject to the rental station's requirements.
