Credit Card Charge

Credit Card Charge

Find out how and when your card is charged, including pre-authorizations.

You haven't been charged twice — one of the amounts is a temporary pre-authorisation, not a payment, and it will be released once the final fare is collected.

How it works

  • When you book, SIXT places a pre-authorisation on your card for the estimated fare to confirm your card can cover the cost.
  • On the next working day after your ride, your card is charged the final fare.
  • The pre-authorisation is then cancelled — it was never a real charge.

If you cancelled your ride

If no cancellation fee applied, the pre-authorisation is cancelled automatically and nothing is taken from your account. Depending on your card provider, it can take a few days for the hold to clear and no longer appear on your statement.
