What is a SIXT airport transfer and how do I book one?

A SIXT airport transfer connects your ride to your flight number so your driver tracks your actual landing time and adjusts the pickup — no matter if you land early or late.

What's included when you add your flight number

• Live flight tracking: your driver monitors your real landing time and adjusts the pickup accordingly.

• Meet & Greet: your driver meets you in the arrivals hall for a smooth handover.
• Airport dwell time: schedule up to two hours at the airport after landing — useful for clearing customs or attending a meeting.

How to book

1. Open the SIXT App or visit sixt.co.uk and select SIXT ride.
2. Enter your pickup airport and destination.
3. Add your flight number when prompted — this activates flight tracking and all the benefits above.
4. If you'd like extra time at the airport after landing, enter the dwell time (up to two hours) before confirming.
5. Confirm your booking.

Example

Your flight is scheduled to land at 3:00 pm and you want 1 hour 30 minutes at the airport. Your driver will be ready at 4:30 pm — or later if your flight is delayed — so your full dwell time is always honoured.

Travelling with passengers on different flights

Book a separate ride for each flight. This ensures every flight is tracked individually and each passenger is collected on time, even if arrival times change.

• If you don't connect a flight number to your ride, it won't be treated as an airport pickup and the additional services won't apply.
• If your actual arrival time differs significantly from the expected time, additional waiting-time charges may apply.

Yes, SIXT can track your private flight — your driver will monitor your actual landing time and adjust your pickup accordingly, as long as your flight is traceable via FlightAware and you provide your aircraft's tail number at the time of booking.

What to do when booking

1. Enter your aircraft tail number in the booking form
2. Confirm your flight is trackable via FlightAware
3. Specify your chosen FBO in the address or comments field to help your driver coordinate the pickup

Why the tail number matters

Providing your tail number is what qualifies your booking as an airport pickup. Without it, your ride will not be treated as one. You'll also benefit from additional complimentary waiting time, in line with our booking conditions.

Buffer time lets you add up to 2 hours to your airport transfer so your driver waits for you after your flight lands — useful if you need extra time for baggage, customs, or a connection.

How it works

When booking your airport transfer, select a buffer duration of up to 2 hours. Your driver will add that time to your flight's actual landing time, so the pick-up adjusts automatically if your flight is delayed.

Example

Your flight lands at 3:00 PM and you select 1 hour 30 minutes of buffer time. Your driver will be waiting at 4:30 PM. If the flight is delayed by 20 minutes, the pick-up moves to 4:50 PM — the buffer is always counted from the actual landing time.
