SIXT vehicle categories are classified using the internationally standardised ACRISS code (also known as CRS code). The four-letter code describes category, body style, transmission and engine type – so you'll know exactly what to expect. Bookings are always made by vehicle category, not by specific model.
How the ACRISS code is structured
The four letters stand for:
1st letter — Category (e.g. M = Mini, C = Compact, S = Standard, L = Luxury)
2nd letter — Body type (e.g. D = 4-door, F = SUV, V = Minibus, T = Convertible)
3rd letter — Transmission (M = Manual, A = Automatic, D = 4WD)
4th letter — Fuel type (R = Petrol/Diesel, H = Plug-in Hybrid, E = Electric, C = Electric Long-Range)
Example: CDMR = Compact · 4-door · Manual · ICE
Why book by category, not by model?
Each category includes several models of similar size, equipment and price range. If you book a VW Golf, for example, you might also receive a Ford Focus or SEAT Leon – all within the same category and with comparable features.
Requesting a specific model
Do you have a model preference? You can add a note when booking – the branch will try to fulfil your request depending on fleet availability. However, there's no guarantee for a specific model, as the exact vehicle is usually only assigned on the day of pick-up.

At SIXT, you always book a vehicle category rather than a specific model. You can, however, indicate a model preference when booking, and around 30 minutes before pick-up, you can choose your specific vehicle yourself in the SIXT app from the available models within your booked category.
Indicate a model preference when booking
When booking online, enter your model preference in the comments field. The branch will take your preference into account where possible – depending on availability on the day of pick-up. There is no guarantee for a specific model.
Choose your specific vehicle in the app
Around 30 minutes before pick-up, you can choose your specific vehicle in the SIXT app from the available models within your booked category – conveniently and transparently from your smartphone.

If you'd like to use the same vehicle for several months, SIXT+ Auto Abo (car subscription) is a flexible alternative. With SIXT+, you also primarily book by vehicle category – some specially marked models additionally offer a model guarantee.

Yes – SIXT offers a growing selection of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles from brands such as Tesla, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, BYD, MG, Lynk & Co and Lucid. Simply activate the "Electric" or "Hybrid" filter when searching to see and book the matching models directly.

Fuel policy for electric vehicles
The full-to-full rule also applies to electric vehicles: pick up with a full battery, return with a full battery. If the charge level is lower at return, a service fee per missing kWh applies. Alternatively, you can choose the prepaid charging option when booking and return the vehicle at any charge level.
Charging during your rental
You as the renter cover the electricity costs during the rental period. You can find charging points via the car's navigation system or common charging apps.

At SIXT, you can book a wide selection of vans and minibuses – ideal for moves, goods transport or group travel. Bookings are made on the website or in the SIXT app. Availability and specific models vary by branch and country.
Vans
For transporting goods and furniture, several sizes are available:
Small cargo van – small moves, individual pieces of furniture
Mid-size and large vans – flats, office relocations
Vans with box body and tail lift – furniture and larger house moves
Minibuses
For groups, families or trips with several people:
9-seater minibus (multiseater) – seats up to 9 people including the driver
Optional add-ons such as sat-nav, child seats or additional driver

Fuel policy: Full-to-full applies – or you can choose prepaid fuel instead
Branch availability: Not every category is available at every branch
