Traffic Information back to top

Many people choose to arrive by rail and you'll find our Nottingham Rail Station branch in the ticket hall area. Those who prefer to travel by air in the first instance can fly to East Midlands Airport (IATA: EMA) from most major British and European cities. The airport is 13.4 miles from the city and is a 25-minute drive via the A453 Remembrance Way. Alternatively, you can take the Loughborough Skylink bus service and visit our branch at Pavilion Way, Loughborough. It's then just a drive of about 33 minutes to Nottingham on the A60.

Car hire in Nottingham means that you can explore the city and surrounding region without having to rely on public transport. Nottingham is in the heart of England and is affectionately called the 'Queen of the Midlands'. The M1 motorway connects the city with major cities like Leicester (30 miles south) and Sheffield (30 miles north). You'll be close to local landmarks like Sherwood Forest and the Peak District National Park is only a short drive away on Brian Clough Way/A52 or the M1 and A615. Parking facilities are available throughout the city, including at the Talbot Street Q-Park where you will find our City Centre Branch. Others, such as the Lace Market and Nottingham Arena, can be easily located with your SatNav system and there are thousands of on-street pay and display parking spaces.

The city centre is on the River Leen and its southern boundary is close to the River Trent. The centre of Nottingham has a one-way system; traffic on the A6008 Maid Marian Way and A610 Derby Road flows east while westbound cars can use Wollaton Street or Talbot Street. The area around the Old Market Square underwent extensive redevelopment in 2006 - it's bordered by Maid Marian Way and the A60 so although some streets are pedestrianised, it's easy to reach all the main shopping streets by car.
