here are two ways to get to the SIXT Pisa Airport car hire branch in one of the main car parks adjacent to the airport terminal, the Piazzale Mario Cobianchi. Take the airport's short shuttle service from the terminal. One departs every 15 minutes from 5:30 a.m. till the day's last flight. You'll find the shuttle departure at the white gazebo clearly marked just outside the terminal. You can also walk there – it will only take five minutes following the red directional markings. If the car is different to the one you ordered, you can just return it and swap.
With your own car you can visit all of the tourist attractions in the city and surrounding Tuscany area. It goes without saying that if you haven't seen the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa it will probably be first on your list. Right alongside is a classic example of the city's historic architecture, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, a white marble wonder from the 13th century. Don't miss Palazzo Blu, with its extensive collections of Italian art and furniture. Then take the 20-minute drive to the town of Lucca, which you'll find steeped in ancient Roman history.

With no booking, we were happily accomodated by Marta. We did not speak Italian but her english was excellent. She was very knowledgeable about insurance and advised us that AMEX coverage was not valid in Italy. Good to know! I told Marta we needed a last-minute PCR test to travel. She was happy to look up some options and soon her supervisor, Diletta, and colleague, Erica, were helping too! Erica found us a lab in Lucca and helped us make a booking. Super super nice experience! We had a few hiccups while booking and they were so helpful in changing the booking and the credit card. We also got an upgrade to a Fiat 500X which was the best thing that could’ve happened to us in the tuscan hills. Very efficient and friendly service, everyone was so nice and helpful.
