Traffic Information

Traffic Information

Affordable car hire frees you from the need to use local bus services with confusing schedules that change every 30 days. And, of course, driving is the best way to ensure that you see all that Kos has to offer. Kos is only 26 miles from end to end and there is just one main road. The road cuts through the centre of the island and its branch roads veer off towards popular beaches and major attractions. All routes are relatively quiet and free from traffic and driving is on the right. Some roads are more secluded, so it's well worth considering adding Sat Nav to your car rental package to ensure that you don't get lost on mountainous or out of the way tracks.

The third largest of the Dodecanese chain, Kos is one of Greece's most popular destinations thanks to its unique blend of scenery, history, and glorious beaches lapped by the warm turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. Kos Town is thought to be the birthplace of Hippocrates, and the Plane Tree of Hippocrates in the centre of town is a city landmark. History fans should also visit the International Hippocratic Institute and the Hippocratic Museum. In the newer part of town, you'll find lots of unique stores and one of a kind shops selling everything from leather goods to clothing, jewellery, and local crafts. Once you've explored Kos, why not take a drive to some of the island's amazing beach resorts like Kardamena, Therma Beach, or Paradise Beach on the Kefalos peninsula? Soft, sugary sand and clear azure waters or rugged hills, volcanic hot springs, and pebbles, there are Kos beaches to suit all tastes.
