Here’s a breakdown of some things to take along when driving in Denmark:

  • A red warning triangle is compulsory in case of an accident or breakdown.
  • Spiked tyres may be used between 1 November and 15 April, they must be on all 4 wheels. It is recommended that visitors equip their vehicle with a fire extinguisher and a first-aid kit. While not compulsory, it is also recommended that a reflective jacket be carried to be used in the event of the driver having to step out of the vehicle in an emergency or breakdown situation.
  • Generally, there is a duty to give way to traffic approaching from the right. A bold line, a line of white triangles (shark’s teeth) painted across the road or a white triangle with a red border indicates that you must stop and give way to traffic on the road you are entering.

Additional Information

Sixt car rental has a number of branches in Denmark including most major cities and airports. If you are travelling to Denmark and using our car rental service your first port of call might be the capital city of Copenhagen. When in Copenhagen you might want to go to Tivoli Gardens a fascinating amusement park with lots of attractions and well worth checking out. Make sure you visit Christiania a hippie community set up in 1971 on an abandoned military area containing lots of amazing paintings and sculptures. Using your Sixt car rental you can drive to Rundentaarn, a very pleasant and unique tower where you can get a great view of the city and also visit the botanical gardens for a great collection of plants and flowers.

You could also take a road trip to Skagen and visit the Den Tilsandede Kirk(The church buried in the sand), which only has a third of the tower now visible due to it being built on the biggest migrating sand dune in Europe. Drive through the island of Fyn which is very relaxing as the scenery is very rural with rolling hills and cornfields and scattered about along these fields are lots of Viking burial mounds.

Don’t forget that you can fly and drive when you pick your Sixt car rental up from any airport located in Denmark. With so much to see in Denmark, you’ll reap the benefits by using a car rental from Sixt.
