1. Factors Affecting Rental Car Costs

a) Choice of Pick-Up Location

• The pick-up location influences the total price.
• Airport or train station locations include additional premium location fees.
• Details are available in our rental information.

b) Choice of Return Location

• Usually, pick-up and return locations are the same.
• For different locations, a one-way rental applies, with an additional one-way fee.
• Alternative: Delivery and collection at your hoome or business address. The fee depends on the distance to the nearest branch.

c) Rental Duration

• Weekly and weekend rentals are often cheaper than daily rates.

Rate overview:

• Daily rate: 1–4 days
• Weekly rate: 5–27 days
• Weekend rate: Friday 12:00 – Monday 09:00
• Extended weekend: Thursday 12:00 – Tuesday 09:00 (max. 4 days)
• Long-term rental: from 28 days

d) Vehicle Choice

• Prices vary depending on vehicle size, equipment, and class.
• Early booking usually secures better prices during high demand.
• Prepaid rate: Paying in advance can offer a lower price; free cancellation is not included.

e) Protection Options and Extras

• Protection options (optional): Full insurance, theft protection, mobility service, tyre and windscreen protection
• Other extras: Guaranteed navigation system, additional driver, child/booster seats, automatic transmission.
• Note: All protection options and extras can be selected online during booking or at the station. Changes are not possible after the rental contract is completed.

Travel Options for UK hires:

• Traveling to Mainland Europe (country restrictions apply), Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of White - for non luxury cars only. The fee is GBP 42 per day, with a minimum of GBP 300 per rental.
• Island Hopper option to visit all other British Isles and the Republic of Ireland available for all vehicle types. The Fee per rental is 45.00 GBP.

f) Young Drivers / Country-Specific Rental Conditions

• In some countries including the UK, a young driver fee.

2. During the Rental

• During the rental, you pay fuel or charging costs (for electric vehicles) yourself.
• Any congestion zones, toll or road fees for bridges, tunnels, or other routes are also your responsibility.

3. After the Rental

• Refuelling and Charging Service:
• Vehicles are handed over with a full tank (Full – Full).
• Please return the vehicle fully refuelled or recharged – unless you booked the refuelling or charging service.

Included Mileage: 

• For limited mileage bookings, any additional kilometres will be charged at return.

Traffic Violations: 

• You are liable for any fines or penalties incurred.

Vehicle Damage: 

• Without booked protection packages, you are responsible for any damage.
• Recommendation: Full insurance without excess for maximum coverage.

• The internationally standardised ACRISS code helps you compare vehicle features more easily.

Step 3: Select your rate and price

• Once you enter your details, the best available online rate is automatically displayed.
• Weekly and weekend rates are included directly.

Advance booking time:

• One rental day equals 24 hours.

What conditions apply when using a SIXT voucher?

• Vouchers are valid in selected countries: UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, USA & Canada. Your voucher will be created for use in one of these countries.

How does the Flexi rate work at SIXT?

• Payment is made at vehicle pickup; for selected categories, payment without a credit card may also be possible.
• Free cancellation at any time before pickup.
• Accepted payment methods: all major international credit cards, and in some countries VPay and Maestro. See the rental information for the exact accepted payment methods per country.
• Cash payment is not possible.

How does the Prepaid rate work at SIXT?

• Immediate online payment at booking with credit card or PayPal.
• Driver and payment details are fixed at the time of booking and cannot be changed afterwards.
• No refund for late pickup or early return.
• Cancellations before the scheduled pickup time are possible; see rental terms for detailed conditions.
• Switching from Prepaid to Flexi rate is not possible.
• No-show: If the vehicle is not collected, the rental price on the booking confirmation is fully payable. The SIXT reservation remains valid until the scheduled return time.

What should I know about wholesaler bookings?

• Modifications or cancellations must be handled exclusively through the wholesaler.
• SIXT cannot make direct changes to bookings made via a broker.
