\nYou can see exactly what protection is included under the 'Mileage & Protection' section when booking your hire car. You can also add optional protection packages at that stage.
\n\nCan I add extra cover when I subscribe?
\nYes. SIXT+ offers a range of optional protection products to cover different situations. Full details are available during the booking process and in the Rental Agreement terms and conditions provided at the time of hire.
\n\nCan I use my own insurance?
\nEvery policy is different, so check with your insurer before relying on personal cover. Confirm there are no exclusions for hire cars and that the specific vehicle type is covered. It's also worth considering what you'd pay out of pocket if you needed to make a claim — excess amounts and admin fees can add up.
\n\nCan I change my protection package during an ongoing subscription?
\nNo — it's not possible to change your protection package once a subscription is active. Because any damage could have occurred either before or after a change, SIXT is unable to identify which protection level applied at the time. Choose your preferred cover level before your subscription begins.
\n\nWhat is a Loss Damage Waiver?
\nA Loss Damage Waiver limits your financial responsibility if the hire car is damaged or stolen. Under the Damage Protection Programme:
\nDoes protection cover glass and windscreen damage?
\nGlass and windscreen damage is not covered by the standard Loss Damage Waiver. SIXT offers separate glass and windscreen cover, and if you select Super Top Cover Loss Damage Waiver, tyre and glass damage are covered with a £0 excess.
