Here&#8217;s a rundown of when they are, how to make the most of them and some ideas of what to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By planning your holidays in a certain way you can expand four days of holidays all the way to ten days off. But first, let&#8217;s see where the bank holidays land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UK Bank Holiday Dates<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-270be22f-fcd8-4ae9-aefc-7fbdaa4c6b4a\"><li>New Year&#8217;s Day Fri, <strong>1 Jan 2021<\/strong><\/li><li>Good Friday Fri, <strong>2 Apr 2021<\/strong><\/li><li>Easter Monday Mon, <strong>5 Apr 2021<\/strong><\/li><li>Early May Bank Holiday Mon, <strong>3 May 2021<\/strong><\/li><li>Spring Bank Holiday Mon, <strong>31 May 2021<\/strong><\/li><li>Christmas Day Mon, <strong>27 Dec 2021<\/strong><\/li><li>Boxing Day Tue, <strong>28 Dec 2021<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Make the Most of the Days<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By using 19 days of strategically requested holidays you can combine them with the bank holidays for a cool 48 days off this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This of course will vary depending on work schedules but assuming you would normally work on these dates, here is how to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea is to create blocks of time surrounding the bank holiday, just as some did at the beginning of this January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Easter Bank Holiday make sure you&#8217;re the first to <strong>request April 6th to the 9th off<\/strong>, with the 2nd and 5th already a bank holiday that&#8217;s 10 days off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May you can also turn four days into nine by <strong>requesting<\/strong> <strong>May 4th to the 7th off.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With summer coming to the end you will be able to make the most by <strong>requesting August 31st till September 3rd off<\/strong>, meaning you&#8217;ll be off from August 28th till September 6th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, you can get your ten-day holiday over Christmas. However, if restrictions are lifted during the breaks there are great UK travel ideas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As long as it&#8217;s fine to travel why not explore some of the iconic and important places in the UK? Scotland, Wales, and England have incredible places to visit by car. We&#8217;ll leave some detailed articles of our suggestions in each. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixt.co.uk\/magazine\/travel\/historic-places-scotland\/\">Historic Places in Scotland<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixt.co.uk\/magazine\/tips\/historical-places-wales\/\">Historic Places in Wales<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixt.co.uk\/magazine\/travel\/historical-places-south-england\/\">Historic Places in Southern England<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With longer breaks and warmer weather, it can be an amazing and enlightening trip to visit these countries and not only explore their culture but the awesome landscapes surrounding them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If possible plan road trips that allow for safe and domestic travel. It&#8217;s a great opportunity to see what lies at your own front door. Whether it&#8217;s your first time seeing <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixt.co.uk\/car-hire\/ireland\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixt.co.uk\/car-hire\/united-kingdom\/edinburgh\/\">Edinburgh<\/a><\/strong>, a city break could be perfect over Easter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Lake District <\/strong>is filled with incredible hiking trails and camping spots as well as being dotted with ideal villages.
