Children who are too small to use seatbelts must be transported in a correctly fitted child seat.<\/li><li>Children under the age of 10 have to sit in the back of the car. The blood alcohol level limit for drink driving is 0.05% mg\/ml.<\/li><li>Use of low lights or luces bajas is mandatory 24 hours per day on highways and main roads.<\/li><li>Mobile phones can only be used with a hands free system.<\/li><li>Vehicles can only be parked in the direction of traffic flow. It is illegal to park a vehicle facing opposing traffic.<\/li><li>In towns, intersections without traffic lights or signs function like four-way stops: a car approaching from your right has right of way.<\/li><li>On main roads left hand turns are not allowed unless specifically stated.<\/li><li>In the event of an accident, stay by your car until the police come.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please make sure that you are aware of all the road regulations before you start your trip in Argentina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Speed Limits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The standard legal limits, which may be varied by signs, for private vehicles without trailers are as follows:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>40 kph on side roads.<\/li><li>60 kph in built up areas.<\/li><li>100 -120 kph on highways and roads outside the city.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things to Bring Along<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>It is compulsory to have the following equipment with you when driving in Argentina:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A full UK driving licence.<\/li><li>An international drivers licence.<\/li><li>Car insurance documents.<\/li><li>Proof of identity \u2013 Passport.<\/li><li>Two safety triangles with reflecting surfaces.<\/li><li>First aid kit.<\/li><li>Fire extinguisher inside the vehicle.<\/li><li>A good road map of Argentina could be useful as well as a sat nav.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Be extra cautious when driving at night as road users and roads have little or no lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Road conditions in Argentina are generally good but there are some gravel and dirt roads off the main roads particularly in the south which will require a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sixt.co.uk\/4x4-hire\/\">4&#215;4<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many highways only have one lane in in each direction and you get between two to three lanes on an autopista (freeway), which connect the major cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is advised that all doors are locked and windows closed when driving through cities especially at night time and when stopping at junctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the country areas you should drive carefully in case there are any potholes or rocks in the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure you park your car in a well-lit area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are toll roads on most of the main highways, because many of the highways are privately owned.
