Here are our top\u00a0five\u00a0small towns from across\u00a0Spain<\/a>, famed for their architectural design, rich history,\u00a0and surrounding natural beauty.<\/p>\n

1. RONDA<\/b>, ANDALUSIA<\/b><\/h2>\n

While you will almost certainly want to spend much of your vacation on\u00a0Andalusia\u2019s fantastic beaches, around 45 miles to the north the mountaintop town of Ronda is not to be missed. The town dates back to the Moors and is perched above huge stone cliffs. The Puente Nuevo Bridge is undoubtedly the most famous sight, arching dramatically over the El Tajo Gorge. Other sights include a 13th\u00a0Century Moorish bathhouse, Spain\u2019s largest 18th\u00a0Century bullring,\u00a0and the Mondrag\u00f3n Palace and Museum with its intricate design and beautiful water garden.<\/p>\n

2. CUDILLERO<\/b>,<\/b>\u00a0ASTURIAS<\/b><\/h2>\n

On the north coast of Spain,\u00a0we highly recommend this picturesque fishing town made up of pastel-hued\u00a0houses and a delightful harbour close to\u00a0Oviedo. The coastline here is made up of craggy cliffs and beaches with fine sand. The seafood here is phenomenal;\u00a0you\u2019ll find a lot of local seafood\u00a0snacks and harbour restaurants with incredible views over the Cantabrian Sea. The Asturias\u2019 coastal resorts are not as populated as other areas of Spain and you\u2019ll find many quiet and secluded beaches if you take the scenic routes along the coast.<\/p>\n

3. LA\u00a0<\/b>ALBERCA<\/b>,\u00a0<\/b>CASTILLA<\/b>\u00a0Y LE\u00d3N<\/b><\/h2>\n

La\u00a0Alberca\u00a0was voted\u00a0by Spanish people as one of\u00a0the top 10 most beautiful towns in Spain. Its\u00a0spectacular and culturally diverse\u00a0architecture is made up of stunning stone and half-timber\u00a0houses. And\u00a0the Las\u00a0Batuecas-Sierra de Francia Natural Park gives you extraordinary vistas over the surrounding landscape. Out of the town\u2019s labyrinthine streets, you can take hiking trails leading to enchanting religious sites such as the Shrine of Our Lady of Old\u00a0Majadas\u00a0and the ruins of the Hermitage of San Marcos.<\/p>\n

4. ALBARRAC\u00cdN<\/b>, ARAGON<\/b><\/h2>\n

This small town follows the bend of the\u00a0Guadalaviar\u00a0River in Aragon\u00a0and also\u00a0made the list of Spain\u2019s most beautiful towns for good reason.\u00a0Its\u00a0architectural jewels include medieval walls, the 10th-century\u00a0Andador\u00a0Tower,\u00a0and the 16th\u00a0century Catedral del Salvador, all\u00a0in\u00a0the shadows of\u00a0the ruins of a Moorish castle perched on a cliff top\u00a0above. In\u00a0addition,\u00a0the surrounding Sierra de Albarrac\u00edn Mountains provide fantastic hiking trails.<\/p>\n

5. BESAL\u00da<\/b>, CATALONIA<\/b><\/h2>\n

Besal\u00fa\u00a0is located in\u00a0the foothills of the Pyrenees in northern Catalonia. It is a medieval town with some of the best-preserved architecture in Spain. Must see sights\u00a0include the Viejo Bridge that arches over the\u00a0Fluvi\u00e0\u00a0river, the Romanesque Casa Cornella,\u00a0and the 13th\u00a0century Royal Court. The town is part of the\u00a0Routes of\u00a0Sefarad\u00a0in Spain and features many important heritage sites such as the\u00a0Mikve\u00a0de\u00a0Besalu\u00a0bathing area.<\/p>\n
