Traffic Information back to top

The M62 is the main route into and out of the city, connecting with roads north, west and south. The Humber Bridge gives access to destinations south of the river. Driving in the city itself can often be slow, as roads are bisected by the bridges which cross the River Hull. In the city centre, ample parking is available either on-street or in car parks, with up to 70% discounts for prior booking. You can also pay on the spot using a credit or debit card via your mobile phone. The city's two Park and Ride facilities are popular, particularly at the weekend when city centre car parks can become busy.

Named the 2017 UK City of Culture, Hull has long enjoyed a reputation for individual style. In 1902 it was the first city to form its own telephone service, with public phones housed in cream, rather than red, phone boxes. Today it is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a bustling waterfront, offering bars, restaurants and plenty of shopping. In addition to its three shopping malls, there are plenty of streets offering individual and niche outlets. The city is also host to around 17,000 students at its university, which was home for many years to renowned poet Philip Larkin.

The Yorkshire city of Hull has developed where the River Hull meets the Humber Estuary. The city is dominated by the graceful 140 metre sweep of the Humber Bridge, which, when it was opened in 1981, was the longest single span suspension bridge in the world. Take in the spectacular view of the Bridge as you drive along the foreshore to Hessle, where you can enjoy a great family day out in the 48 acre Humber Bridge Country Park. There are Meadow, Pond and Nature trails and the opportunity to identify as many of the 22 species of butterfly as you can while you enjoy your picnic lunch. Visit the bird feeding station in the centre of the Park, but don't forget your wellies if you visit in the autumn or winter! The Park is fully disabled and pushchair accessible.
