Also in Cambridgeshire is the town of Newmarket which is home to the famous racecourse. There are many classic National Trust properties which are on the drive from Stansted to London and Cambridge, such as the working estate of Wimpole complete with rare farm yard breeds and a very good cafe with fresh local produce and the ancient royal hunting forest of Hatfield Forest which is an oasis of natural tranquility next to the busy motorway.
