  The Terrakotta Armee is coming to Majorca! The exhibition will be set up in a 2000 square meters tent in Palma starting on the 3rd of May. 150 life-size warrior statues of the first Chinese emperor Shi Huang Di will be placed in an area right next to the headquarters of Mallorca Zeitung and Diario de Mallorca. This exhibition organised by the German company Terra Präsent has already visited many cities in Europe.

  General Strike: 50% of flights suspended Due to the national strike next Thursday, we are expecting a 50% cancellation of all flights to the island, both departures and arrivals in the local airport. The minimum service guarantees a 50% of state workers, on both parts. The cancellations will affect both international, domestic and inter island flights.

  Petrol has reached a record price this past week, now costing us over 1,40 %u20AC per litre. People are using all sorts of methods to reduce costs in the following way; Don't use the accelarator whilst starting the car. Try not to exceed speeds of 100km / hour... from this speed onwards is when fuel consumption is at its' highest. Don't wind down the windows when driving fast, this can slow you down whilst using more fuel.

  Majorca has not had as much snow as last weekend for the past 50 years. In mountain villages such as Bunyola and Soller the mountain roads had to blocked to avoid accidents. Even in Palma and other urban areas the streets and beaches were covered in snow. Next weekend another cold spell will come to Majorca and news snowfalls are very likely.

  The company Dreamcast will have a show in the "Teatro Principal" in Palma between Wednesday 11th and Sunday 15th of January, showing their piece "Balagan". More than 30 artist from all over the world come to Mallorca will present a show comparable to Cirque de Soleil.   There is a typical Mallorquin tradition between the months of December and January involving their local sobrasada sausage. The ritual is known as the "killing". Its a very important event withinthe Mallorquin community. Their are farms all over the island where the ritual can be seen performed and you can even participate too. These days one can enjoy a wonderful sobrasada sausage at anytime throughout the year thanks to the larger industries, but we must remember that until not long ago this process was only carried out the traditional way, done completely by hand and once a year.

In Palma, in the shopping center 'S'Escorxador, we can findthe Rialto cinema. This cinema has always been famous for showing all films in their original language. This way, many English, French or German tourists can enjoy a good film as if they were in their own home town.

Palma is one of the cities where tfestival will be held, along with Barcelona, Bogotá, Oviedo, Pamplona, Madrid, Murcia, Santiago de Chile, Segovia, Tenerife, Valladolid and Vigo.

  On the next 21th of October in Spain it's celebrated the Vigins's day, in Mallorca it's a tradition to eat bunyuelos de viento, made wiht sweet potatoe's past an sugar. In these days you can find in alot of places for hole the island, little stands where you can buy them and enjoy a flavour that says to us that the fall it's comming.

  A different way to enjoy the landscape of the island of Majorca it's doing an excursion with a balloon. The only balloon's aerodrom of Majorca it's placed at Son Parot (Manacor). The experiece begins with a coffee, balloons videos and explications of the pilots of how everything works. Once the balloon is prepared you can enjoy the marvellous view of the island, including Cabrera and Menorca.

  Tickets for the Seal concert are sold by the German Inselradio located at the Passeo Maritimo in Palma City. The concert will take place on the 16th July in Calvia. Tickets can be bought for 40 Euro.

  The British singer Seal is back on tour and while in Spain. In addition to the cities of San Sebastián (14.7.), Valencia (18.7.) and Cádiz (20.7.) he will be there on Mallorca to give a concert at16.7, in the beautiful town Calvia, in the west of the island.

  The Consell de Mallorca has just declared several archaeological deposits: Cala des Camps (Artà), es Caparó (Vilafranca), Turó d'en Boleto (Vilafrana) and Mandia Vell (Manacor). These zones are veryprotected, consequently it's forbidden to drive cars and motorbikes in these areas.

  Bars and restaurants in El Arenal put more chairs and tables outside than ever. The smoking ban valid as from January 2011 forbids smoking inside. As a result local residents complain about the noise.

  Easter is one of the most important holidays on the island, hence most of the local inhabitants are Catholic.   Thomas Gottschalk will no longer present the well-known program %u201Cwhat do we bet?%u201D after the end of this season. On Ju2011 with its special summer in Mallorca, Mr Gottschalk will bid farewell to his one million viewers. Now, for the fifth time the event will be held at the Plaza de Toros (the bull ring) in Palma deMallorca. In spite of the news, the program %u201Cwhat do we bet%u201D will go ahead, and the strongest candidate to Thomas' succession is Jörg Pilawa.

  Last Saturday the Soller tramline has been re-opened. This line runs from Soller village down to the Port of Soller. Due to the fact that the line is still being worked on, the tram will come to anend a little before the last stop.

  The city of Palma would like to make 8.000 parking bays in Palma Centre, now free of charge, chargeable. At the moment it is not sure which parking bays will be affected.
