    San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a municipality in the Community of Madrid located to the northwest of the region. It's 47 km distance from Madrid. This beautiful small town was founded in times ofCarlos The Third , in the 18th century and established as municipality in the 19th century. It emerged as split of El Escorial, where Felipe The second built the monastery of El Escorial at the end of16th century. The two most famous and typical places of San Lorenzo de El Escorial are: The Monastery of El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen.

    The monastery of El Escorial isconsidered World Heritage. This building is one of the main Spanish Renaissance monuments. it was built over the mount Abantos, slope 1028 metres. its main facade is 207 m in length. The mostimportant parts of the building are the Pantheon of Kings. the Real Basílica and Real Library. The Escorial Monastery is considered "the eighth wonder of the world".

    With reference to Thevalley of The Fallen is considered Historical Site and it is included in the" Escorial region: the monastery, place and natural and cultural environment". This funeral monument belong to 20th century.It was built on the innitiative of the dictator of Francisco Franco. it is an enormous and beutiful cross perched on the Risco de la Nava 1.39 m altitude. The cross of 150 metres consisting of theBasilic carved on stone, an Abbey and an Inn. It is very well known for the artistic values which includes the scultures of the evangelists (18 metres) at the base of the cross.
