Lawica Airport

Upon the arrival you will see how rapidly the Airport is expanding and preparing to meet tens of thousands of guests arriving in June to see The European Football Championships.

The Airport itself located in the west side of the city yet still very close to it. If you are arriving for the first time a SatNav may be recommended - available at the counter but we suggest an advance booking. In case of any doubts Sixt staff is more that happy to explain any route leading to or from the direction you will be traveling.

Getting To/From Poznan Lawica Airport:
The Airport is located within the city limits at Bukowska 285 street. It's fully accessible for disabled persons. Buses: 59 (regular line, stops on every bus stop along the way, normal tickets) and L (special line from the main train station, only one stop along the way, tickets are 3 PLN for all passengers).

    Welcome to Poznan, the city with a thousand-year-old-history and the spot where tradition and modernity are mixed!

    Nowadays one of the largest cities in Poland was the first medieval capital city of Poland and was founded in 10th century. Since then it remains very important economically and interesting cultural place on Poland's map.

    Home for founded in 1921 Poznan International Fair that hosts nearly 80 industrial fairs every year and is the second largest exhibition centre in the Middle East Europe. Ranging from agricultural festive parties to high-tec companies meetings is also a place of the biggest indoor music parties in Poznan.

    One of the most noticeable places in Poznan is the Imperial Castle (Koenigliches Residenzschloss) built in 1910 for the German Emperor (Kaiser) Wilhelm II. Along with (in todays functions) the University, Post Head Office, the Opera and the Music Academy was called the Emperor's District. Made of stone, tall and massive structures are among the most commonly visited places in Poznan. Right in the middle of that district you can find our second largest city fountains.

    A few places definitely worth seeing in and around Poznan:
    1. A medieval Old Square with its beautiful architecture and many bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants around.
    2. Stary Browar Mall which was awarded the Best Mid Size Mall of the World (2005) and Europe (2008) prizes.
    3. The Polish oldest Cathedral and the Malta Lake nearby - if you'd like to experenice skiing in the middle of the summer then an artificial ski slope is the place you should definitely give a try!
    4. 14th century, now neogothic Kornik castle.
    5. Wielkopolska National Park.
    All are in the vicinity and worth a one day trip.

Please save a lot of time for these spectacular shows!

    If you'd like to have a relaxing break during your busy business visit in Poznan why not try Poznan Thermes?

    Newly opened, divided into two 'sport' and 'relaxing' sections, they offer a lot of water fun attractions. Located in the west side of the city, near the beautiful Malta Lake with a long walking promenade around it and the artificial ski slope that you can try all year round!

    Due to the ongoing expansion of the airport the number of available parking places has been limited. The new terminal itself is nearly complete and the works outside are currently underway. Should you have any questions regarding please ask the Sixt staff at the counter.

    Dear Customers!

    The new terminal should be partially operational in about 5 weeks time. During the European Football Championships the departures will remain in the old terminal but arrivals will be moved to the new one. Should you have any questions do not hesitate to contact our branch for further information. You can see some pictures from the construction site here.


    The city is currently under heavy road reconstruction that will be finished by the end on May. Untill that date we advise you to secure more time required to get to and from the airport. If you are a football fan you will definitely be interested in how does the Fan Zone will look like - have a quick glance here and see the video.
